15/10/07 Dinner with John

John making us dinner...and then where we ate it. It was very good indeed, and heavily loaded with raw onion and pepper. Mentioning John makes me want to mention:
, a wonderful place all about and to do with a great project John initiated. You might even find a comic that I drew that explains the origins of the idea. There's more to it than this, but he has been getting graduates to produce posters to pass on advice to first year students...go to the site and find out more about it.

Book preview & more cats

This drawing has something to do with the book I'm making at the moment...and below are some more very quick sketches of a rapidly moving Phoebe.

The ark and the bird

The ark and the bird together seemed especially potent.

The bird on a post

Very near to the ark a big bird perched on a post. For a long time it had it's wings spread out...drying them I guess. I hoped to take a photo of that...but by the time I got my camera it had folded them up again. Birds on posts seem deeply significant too, for some reason.

The mysterious ark

When staying with Silje's grandmother I was very intrigued by a boat on the water outside the house. It had a wooden frame with plastic covering...making it feel a bit like a strange house on a boat...or an ark. I think there were things under the plastic sheeting, maybe just being stored there...but it felt like a strong, significant image to me.

Daily posts very soon

Very soon I will do as I am intending with this blog and upload a new drawing every day. I'm just focussing on website updating and making some new books right now. So I'll carry on uploading on of my backlog of sketches every day, until the new stuff starts happening every day. Here's one, drawn on the 19th September 2007.

Every time we showed Silje's youngest cousin Eirik photos like these (from Bergen's Troll Wood):

...he became very focussed, possibly scared, and would exclaim "Oooh...Trolle!"
